Goal-Setting and Austin Trip!

(Sorry it's taken me awhile to get this going.  I had to lock down my husband's travel schedule before I could be certain of my availability.)

You are coached.  You are loved.  I am your friend.  PLEASE let me be your friend! I want you to be happy.   I want you to succeed. I want you to love running.  I want you to have the most positive running, racing and coaching experience imaginable. It is MUCH easier to make that happen when I'm part of the conversation about which races you want to run.   Coachless, unloved amateurs will pick a goal, then use Google and Runner's World to pick a race, THEN decide to hire a coach.  More often than not, after I'm hired to help someone with their goal race, they wait 3 weeks and tell me #alltheraces they'd signed up for before they thought about me, and give me a hard sell about why they need to run each and every one and how doing so will be TOTALLY IN LINE with my training.  At that moment, I'm not Coach, cheering you on.  I'm Mom, telling you "no" and lecturing you about making good choices. I don't like being in that position, please don't do it to me!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOAL-SETTING OFFICE HOURS FOR 2017: Local Clients

Please click the link and look at the available times, you may select only one:  http://doodle.com/poll/y45nsyux8w9kmydhi If none of those times work for you, let me know and I can try to work something out but I cannot promise anything as this time of year is crazy busy and my kids are not in school for most of Dec and Jan.  GOAL-SETTING OFFICE HOURS FOR 2017: Non-Local Clients Please click the link and look at the available times, you may select only one:  http://doodle.com/poll/386mhz1gqpb4iz7ec If none of those times work for you, let me know and I can try to work something out but I cannot promise anything as this time of year is crazy busy and my kids are not in school for most of Dec and Jan.  *Please note: I realize I have more clients than available slots.  I also realize that not everyone will want or need to take advantage of these conversations, so I will open up more slots on an as-needed basis.  If and when I do, I will send a group email to alert you. Homework: Please print the attached calendar, on the back of the printout please list, in chronological order, the races you want to do in 2016 or did last year and think you may want to do again.  Go back in that list and Circle the 2 that are MOST important to you.

then, take a black magic marker and look at the calendar side.  Block out any 'blackout' dates, times you know you won't be able to train or race (like weddings, graduations, vacations, school breaks, conventions you attend every year, trips you have planned, etc)..then, circle the dates of #alltheraces you want to do, make sure they don't coincide with any blackout dates. One race you might want to consider is Austin.  It's on February 19th, and a group of us has already started forming; at last count 8 were 'definite' ins, including me for either the half or to help pace Abhi in the full marathon.    Link here for more information about the race: http://youraustinmarathon.com/

BE AWARE:  AUSTIN IS A GREAT PLACE AND A FUN RACE BUT THIS IS NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT A PR-FRIENDLY COURSE. YOU CAN TOTALLY DO IT WE JUST HAVE TO ADJUST YOUR EXPECTATIONS ACCORDINGLY.  NOT EVERY RACE IS, OR SHOULD BE, A PR.

As a reminder of how awesome this group is and how much fun we have, let me remind you of San Antonio 2015.  That weekend rocked.  If any of us had gone there wanting anything other than a good time and to support each other, we wouldn't have photos like the one attached.  All three awesome runners in this photo are confirmed for Austin.

You are COACHED.  You are LOVED.  Let's get some races on the calendar and WIN AT LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
